- The experiment of radiation boundary condition in P-σ 5-layer limited region model was run and compared with those of the other kinds of lateral boundary condition. The experiments show that if the computational region is taken as 0°-180°E and 25°S-55°N,the effects of different lateral boundary conditions on experiment results in the center part of the domain are not apparent until integrating 15 days. But they are notable in the inner area about 30-40 degrees of longitude near both east and west boundaries. The errors for the sea level pressure and precipitation rate near the boundaries caused by the radiation boundary condition are smaller than those by the other kinds of boundary condition, and the results of the former seem much closer to the observation.

- The dynamic effects of the orography of the Qinghai-Xizang Plateau on the air current passing the mountain are studied with the inviscid and adiabatic barotropic primitive equations with the Lagrangian advective scheme. The grid length is 1°×1° longitude and latitude, and the real topography is interpolated to the fine mesh points by the double tri-spline function. The dynamic effects of the motion flowing around, crossing over, as well as both flowing around and crossing over the plateau are separately experimented with several different initial fields. The results show that the orographic effect may make the low vortex occur on the main part and its eastern side of the plateau when the flows passing the plateau, especially the forced ascending motion has direct and major influence; in the process of the vortex formation the occurrence of the low vortex is quite independent with the initial field and the different initial fields finally tend to have a similar height field under the dynamic influence of the orographically forced climbing motion; and that the genesis and maintenance of both the large Eastern Asian troughs as well as the lows on the Bay of Bengal may have a certain relations with the dynamic effect of the topography of the plateau; and that the existence of easterlies in the low latitude is favourable for the genesis and maintenance of the Indian Low.
- DYNAMICAL ANALYSIS OF EFFECT OF THE QINGHAI-XIZANG PLATEAU ON MAINLY TROUGH OF EAST ASIA
- Chen Zhongming Lu Jinghua
- 1987 Vol. 6 (2): 130-140.
- Abstract ( ) PDF (634KB) ( )
- In the paper, under both ideal orography of Qinghai-Xizang Plateau and large scale atmospheric motion conditions the effect of orographie forcing on mainly trough of East Asia was discussed when westerlies flow move around the north side of the plateau. The results are:1) Topography forcing action causes the long wave trough off East Asia coast half wave length away from the plateau to form. 2) The intensity of the mainly trough is ??? Finally, the effect of westerlies climbing flow on the mainly trough of East Asia was briefly discussed.
- THE COMPUTATION AND SOME DISTRIBUTION CHARACTERISTICS OF EFFECTIVE RADIATION OVER THE QINGHAI-XIZANG PLATEAU AND ITS ADJACENT AREAS
- Ji Guoliang Jiang Ha o Zha Shufang
- 1987 Vol. 6 (2): 141-149.
- Abstract ( ) PDF (557KB) ( )
- This paper discusses the climatic computational methods of effective radiation over the Qinghai-Xizang Plateau and its adjacent areas by using the data observed over the Qinghai-Xizang Plateau for the period from August 1982 to July 1983, and the distribution figures of the annual total and monthly totals over the Plateau and its adjacent areas are drawn. The results show that the high value of the annual total of effective radiation is in the western part of the Plateau, the values gradually reduce from western part to eastern past of the Plateau and the low value is in Sichuan Basin. The high and low centers move lightly with the seasonal variation, respectively.
- A PRIMARY METHOD FOR PREDICTING RAINFALL AMOUNT OF FLOOD SEASON BY WINTER S SOIL TEMPERATURE
- Tang Maocang Zhang Jian Wang Jingxiang
- 1987 Vol. 6 (2): 150-160.
- Abstract ( ) PDF (782KB) ( )
- A practical predicting method for rainfall anomaly of flood season is introduced in this paper. Firstly, whether a heavy we t yea r will occur over all Chnia, this year can be decided by the sea surface temperature on East Pacific Ocean (El Nino) and the soil temperature in middle Asia (bv using the soil temperature of Xin Jiang) during winter season! secondly the soil temperature at depth 1.6m in the east part of Tibet Pla tea u (100°-105°E) d u ring winter seas on will determine the rainfall amount over East China in summer half yearj Finally, the rainfall anomaly in each special regions will lie assessed by the soil temperature hierarchy of the sa me region during pre- win ter season.
- THE INFLUENCE OF THE EVOLUTION OF ATMOSPHERIC STRATIFICATION ON THE CONTINUED HAILSTORM WEATHER PROCESS
- Zhang Xixuan Sun Xiuxia
- 1987 Vol. 6 (2): 161-168.
- Abstract ( ) PDF (491KB) ( )
- This paper discusses the occurrence, development and dissipation of continued hailstorm weather process from the evolution of the atmospheric stractification. More than 20 continued hailstorm weather processes from 1972 to 1983 in Liupan Mountain district have been analysed and the results show that the rise and decline of those processes depended on the instability of stractification, the height and humidity of the maximum instable layer. The differences between severe and weak hailstorms are remarkable in the stractif ication evolution at the height of 300 hPa.
- THE MACROSCOPIC FEATURE OF PRECIPITUS STRATIFIED CLOUDS FROM MAY TO AUGUST IN NINGXIA

- 1987 Vol. 6 (2): 169-175.
- Abstract ( ) PDF (463KB) ( )
- In order to investigate precipitus stratified clouds in northern China, the data of vertical structure and LWC of precipitus stratified clouds from airplane observation in Ningxia during 1978 to 1982 have been analyzed. This paper describes the macrostructure of clouds and the mean dis-tributon and its difference of cloud LWC for various types of weather system. The paper also discusses preliminarily the precipitation growth conditions in the cloud.
